Official League Rules – February 2006
1. That the league be
known as the Cherwell Invitation Dart League, consisting of
teams invited annually by the league committee.
2. All fixtures will be
played as per fixture list on Wednesday evenings starting at
8.30 prompt.
3. All players must be
registered with the league fixture secretary and their
registration cards signed to be eligible to play. NEW
PLAYERS MAY ONLY BE REGISTERED THROUGH THE FIXTURE SECRETARY.
The playing of unregistered players is illegal. Any
unregistered player competing in the league will have any points
won by them awarded to their opponents.
4. By signing the
registration card, the player agrees to abide by all of the
league rules.
5. No new players may be
registered with any team for the final four games of the season,
except with the use of a wild card. (See rule 6).
6. ONE blank wild
card only can be purchased at the beginning of the season at a
cost of £3.00. This entitles any unregistered player to be
signed on the night of a match, without prior permission of the
fixture secretary. Once a card has been used by a player, it
becomes his/her registration card and that wild card
cannot be used by any other player. More wild cards can be
purchased singely for further use following this proceedure.
When a wild card is first used, it must be indicated on the
result card by the use of an asterix (*) next to the name of the
wild card player. A team can only hold ONE wild card at
any time.
7. A club may enter more
than one team but a player can only player for one side. Having
played for that team he may not play for another.
8. Teams will be placed
into sections according to the names submitted on their entry
form. Any players with previous Division One experience signing
on after the closing date, cannot play for a team in a section
below Division One without prior committee approval.
9. No Match is to be
played unless a result card can be obtained (i.e – a minimum of
four players per side is required before a match can commence).
10. All games will be
played on elm or good condition bristle boards.
11. A raised ockie must
be set for a throw of 7ft 9.25" with the board hung at 5ft 8"
from the centre of the bullseye to the floor.
12. The home team shall
provide a scorer and chalker for each game. The away team to
supply a check scorer.
13. A team shall consist
of six players, to play in a singles match followed by a doubles
match. Any twelve players may play in one match. The six players
used in the singles match may be substituted and a further six
players used in the doubles match.
14. The singles match
result will be added to the doubles match result to give one
overall points total.
15. Should a team fail
to appear then the opposing team will be awarded average points.
The points will be calculated at the end of the season on the
average of all games played during the season by the affected
team.
16. All result cards
must reach the fixture secretary not later than one week after
the completion of the match. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
WINNING TEAM TO RETURN THE RESULT CARD. Failure to do so
will result in the winning team forfeiting their points in that
match. All result cards must be completed correctly by the home
team captain and at the completion of the match they must obtain
the signature of the opposing team captain to verify the result.
17. All result cards
must be completed correctly by the home team captain and at the
completion of the match they must obtain the signature of the
away team captain to verify the result.
18. No fixtures are to
be cancelled without prior approval of the league or fixtures
secretary. Any cancelled fixtures must played on or before the
free week in that half of the season. Failure to do so will
result in the cancelling team forfeiting the points.
19. Should a team fail
to appear then the opposing team will be awarded average points.
The points will be calculated at the end of the season on the
average of all games played during the season by the affected
team.
20. Should any team
withdraw from the league during the season, all games played by
them will be classed as void and points deducted accordingly.
21. At the withdrawal of
any team from the league during the season, all players
registered with that team will be unable to play in the Cherwell
Valley Invitation Dart League for two seasons, unless permission
is given by the committee.
22. Trophies will be
awarded to the winners and runners up of each section at the
discretion of the league committee.
23. The Annual General
Meeting (AGM) is to held at the end of the summer league to
enable any rule amendments to be enforced before the
commencement of the winter league.
THE DRAWS
24. At 8.30pm prompt,
the draw will be made by the two captains, using the members
registration cards at random. At the end of the singles match
the draw for the pairs match will take place. Each team will now
be allowed to substitute registered players for the pairs game.
Only players who are present when the draw
for the singles is made at 8.30 will be eligible to play in the
pairs game that evening.
25. Should a team be a
player short, the player on the opposing team who is drawn
against an absent player will be awarded three points. In the
pairs match, one player from one team may play against two
players from an opposing team, providing that he/she misses
every other throw.
SINGLES MATCH
26. All games to be 3
legs of 401. Each leg to start and finish on a double. Bullseye
counts as a double (no bust). The home player will throw first
for the bullseye in each leg to determine who throws first in
each leg. All three legs must be played as each leg scores a
point. Maximum score of 18 points per team.
PAIRS MATCH
27. Premier and Division
One only. All games to be the best of three legs of 501. Each
leg to start and finish with a double. If one pair wins the
first two legs, the third leg does not need to be played as the
game is won. The winners of the best of three legs will be
awarded one point. Maximum score of 3 points per team.
28. All other divisions.
All games to be one single leg of 601. The leg to be double
start and finish. One point scored per game. Maximum score of 3
points per team.
COMPETITION RULES
29. For all
competitions, the player drawn first (not as printed in order on
the given sheets) will be classed as the home team and shall
throw first for the bullseye in all legs required.
30. Substitutions can be
made until the semi final stages of a competition, providing
that the new player has not previously played in that
competition and is currently registered with the team that
he/she is representing.
31. The competition
draws will be made at 8.30. Any player not present will not be
included in the draw. The decision of the presiding official is
final.
32. All competition
draws will consist of a one-draw basis, i.e no re-draw after the
first round.
